Visit Chesaning for family fun, including free horse-drawn carriage rides! Get in the holiday spirit in the glow of thousands of candles and tiny twinkling lights during the annual Candlelight Walk Nov. 29 and 30.
The annual Tree Lighting Extravaganza kicks things off at 6 p.m. in downtown Chesaning when the special lighted tree will be raised high above the village and then the great star on top will be lit. Don't miss this one-of-a-kind happening. Join in the caroling as the tree is raised into the night sky. And children can post their letters to Santa in a Santa Express Mail box located at the tree raising site. The address is Santa, North Pole and NO postage or return address is required!
Thrill to the awesome Light Magic in our Village-- the only way to describe it is whimsical and fun! The kind of thing you have to see to believe! You will walk among a fantastic assortment of vehicles and objects parked in downtown Chesaning on traffic-free Broad Street including trucks, farm implements, boats. If they can get it into town and put Christmas lights on it, they can enter it in the contest! Bring your camera!
Once again the Peet Community Center will house the Festival of Trees where you will find a fantasy of decorated Christmas trees, wreaths and gift items all waiting to be raffled. Santa and Mrs. Claus will also be at the Peet Center to listen to children's wishes.
To celebrate the holiday, a number of local churches will participate in the Nativity Challenge and set up outdoor, lighted nativity scenes along Chesaning's boulevard.
The Chesaning Area Historical Society will host a special museum display again this year. Also, there is a bake sale where you can find yummy treats of the season.
Gingerbread Houses decorated by elementary school students will be on display in various downtown businesses. Other activities include an Arts and Crafts shows at the High School and Middle School and at the Our Lady Parish Hall, roasted chestnuts, and live holiday music by the Brady Wesleyan Church Praise Team.
Beginning Saturday the same weekend, Santa's Village at the North Pole USA inspired by the movie Polar Express will run through the weekends leading up to Christmas. Santa's Village, held at the Saginaw County Fairgrounds in Chesaning, features a model train display, Santa, a food court, carnival rides, Kris Kringle's Market and holiday entertainment.
